BRECON'S museum is closing its doors at the end of next month - and may not reopen until 2015.
The Brecknock Museum and Art Gallery is currently staging its final exhibition, 'New Acquisitions' featuring recently acquired art and archaeology.
The 169-year-old grade II star listed building will close for at least 12 months from Monday, October 31 for major work on its roof and the creation of a first floor gallery.
However Powys County Council, which owns and manages the town centre attraction, is hopeful its second stage bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund will be approved during this period.
If so the museum will remain closed until 2015 for complete restoration work to be carried out.
