Police have confirmed that a person entered a Brecon property without permission after the Brecon and Radnor Express sought clarification over an alleged incident in the town.

Dyfed-Powys Police initially confirmed that officers had responded to a report of an individual entering a property in the Dewi Sant area in the early hours of Tuesday (September 29).

The force said the individual was located, given “words of advice” and that no arrests were made.

The B&R then asked police to clarify a claim made on social media that the individual had entered the property while the occupants were asleep and had been found in their bedroom.

Police have now confirmed that the door was unlocked but the individual “did not have permission to enter”.

The force also confirmed that the individual entered the bedroom of the person who reported the incident.

A second call was received by police, although the individual did not enter the property on that occasion, according to Dyfed-Powys Police.

Police were asked what was meant by the individual being given “words of advice” and whether officers had established that no criminal offence had been committed.

The force said officers had established that no offences under the Theft Act 1968 had been committed.

It then said the individual was given “strong words of advice”, meaning the attending officer advised them not to return to the property.

No arrests were made and no further police action was taken.

When asked by the B&R, police said there is “no ongoing risk to the public”.
