A park and ride service will return to Brecon for this year’s Brecon Beacons Food Festival, with visitors able to leave their cars at the town’s Cattle Market for a £3 donation to charity.

The service will operate on Saturday, October 3, when the annual food festival returns to Brecon Market Hall. Visitors will be able to park at the Cattle Market and use a free return bus service to the festival, with the £3 parking donation going to Accessibility Powys.

Accessibility Powys is a registered pan-disability charity and Disabled Persons Organisation which works to help disabled people in Powys overcome physical, emotional and societal barriers. The park and ride service was introduced for last year’s festival and is being brought back for 2026, operating from 10am to 4pm.

The service is being sponsored and operated by Williams Coaches, with buses running between the Cattle Market and Brecon Market Hall.

Festival organiser Andrew Powell said the service would provide an alternative for visitors during what is expected to be a busy day in Brecon.

“We’re delighted to be bringing the Park & Ride back for another year,” he said.

“Parking can understandably be at a premium in Brecon when the festival is taking place, so this gives visitors a really straightforward alternative – park at the Cattle Market, jump on the bus and arrive right in the heart of the event.

“A massive thank you must go to Williams Coaches for once again sponsoring and running the service. Their support makes it possible for us to offer the bus completely free of charge and is a fantastic contribution towards making the festival as accessible and enjoyable as possible.

“We’re also really pleased to continue working with Accessibility Powys, with every £3 parking donation helping to raise valuable funds for the charity. It’s a great example of local organisations working together to make the day better for visitors while supporting a very worthwhile local cause.”

The Brecon Beacons Food Festival - one of the highlights of the Brecon calendar - will bring together more than 60 food and drink producers at Brecon Market Hall, alongside a variety of live music, entertainment and activities for families.

Entry to the festival is free. Headline sponsors of this year’s event are Castell Howell and Beacons Foods, alongside backing from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and Powys County Council.

Exhibitors at this year’s festival will include The Dell Vineyard, Antur Brew Co, Hay Charcuterie, Usk Valley Cheese Co, Caws Teifi Cheese, Llanfaes Dairy Ice Cream and Brecon Chocolates. Other producers include Black Mountain Coffee, Pips Cider, Fat Bottom Welsh Cakes, Pembrokeshire Chilli Farm, Taste of Persia, Wigmore Bakery and Maggie’s African Twist, with more than 60 food and drink producers attending in total.

The festival, which is run as a not-for-profit event, is known for celebrating Welsh food and drink while remaining free for visitors.
