Drivers using Powys County Council car parks can now pay for parking with their mobile phones.
From today (Tuesday, May 20), the PayByPhone service will be available at all of the council’s pay and display car parks, offering motorists a more flexible way to pay.
Many car parks across the county already accept card payments at ticket machines, but this marks the first time that phone payments will be an option across the entire network.
The PayByPhone system allows users to start and complete a parking session in three steps: entering the location number shown on nearby signs, selecting how long they want to park for, and paying via the app.
The system also offers additional features, such as text reminders before a session expires and the ability to extend parking time remotely without returning to the car.
Cllr Jackie Charlton, Cabinet Member for a Greener Powys, said: "The option to pay for parking via your mobile phone in all council car parks has arrived in Powys. The PayByPhone app will be an excellent addition to our car park facilities.
“Many of us find making mobile parking payments ultimately more convenient, as you don’t need to worry about having the right change with you while you are out and about.”
You can download the PayByPhone app from the App Store or Google Play Store or visit the PayByPhone website www.paybyphone.co.uk for more details.
