A popular and historic Presteigne tourist location has featured in a much-loved Channel 4 show.
The Judge's Lodging was featured in a recent episode of Four in a Bed, a series where four bed and breakfast owners compete to prove their establishments have value for money by visiting each other's enterprise and deciding the amount they think is best for it.
Gabrielle Rivers, Museum Development Manager, said that filming was “top secret”, and not even the staff knew who the couple were. “All we knew is that two of them had chosen The Judge's Lodging as a special place to take their guests.”
The show often involves B&B owners showing off local attractions. Tim Hodgetts, a member of the museum collections team, led the contestants through the lives of the judges and the sort of things that happen in the courtroom.

Gabrielle said: “There had to be, of course, a trip to the Judge's Bedroom, so they could inspect the facilities where they would have stayed.”
Filming took place in 2024 and aired on the 25th September 2025.

“I have to say, we watched the inspections on the programme keenly, as our major new project is soon to be fully unveiled. The Retiring Rooms at The Judge's Lodging, which will be two stunning holiday apartments in our previously unseen former Housekeeper's flat. Staff here are busy choosing furnishings and learning just what makes holiday accommodation that bit special, ready for their launch in Spring 2026.”
The Judge’s Lodging will also be featured in another show. ITV Wales' Coast & Country will be exploring the lives of the judges and their housekeepers, as well as delving into some of the treasures of the Presteigne Community Collection the museum cares for. Coast & Country featuring the location will be aired on 31st October 2025.
