Hay and District Sports and Community Association Ltd (HADSCAL) is inviting the whole community to a public open day on Thursday, 27 August, between 1pm and 7pm at The Swan, to view the latest designs for Hay Community Campus, a community facility planned for HADSCAL’s land off Forest Road.

The facilities are planned for a patch of unused, HADSCAL-owned land between the GP surgery and the football fields. Plans include provision for an indoor sports hall, a multi use games area, a gym, an indoor and outdoor pool, a community growing space, a cafe, function rooms, and space for community organisations including Hay dial-a-ride and the youth club.

The site has been the focus of hope for community facilities in Hay for many years. With funding support from Powys County Council and the SR & PH Southall Trust, the Trustees are now close to finalising designs for what they hope will be a landmark facility serving Hay and district for generations to come.

Thursday's open day is a chance for anyone in the community to see the proposals and share their views before they go forward for formal pre-application consultation later this year.

Visitors will be able to:

  • watch a newly produced video which brings the plans to life
  • view the architect's drawings for the site
  • share their views directly with HADSCAL
  • bring the children along, with activities laid on for them

Chair of Trustees Trudy Stedman said: "This is a really exciting moment for Hay. We have loved speaking with residents about ideas to help shape this scheme, and we want as many people as possible to have a chance to engage with the plans. The Campus could really transform what Hay has to offer both residents and visitors. Thursday is a genuine chance to tell us if there's anything we've missed before the plans go forward."

The event is a drop-in so there's no need to book, and people can arrive at the Swan at any point between 1pm and 7pm on Thursday.
