Months of disruption are expected in Builth Wells as major resurfacing work begins on the A470 and A483 next month.

The Welsh Government said the essential maintenance scheme will run from November 3 2025 to March 1 2026, with temporary road closures in place at various times during the works.

Due to the narrow nature of the trunk road in Builth, full closures will be required to allow resurfacing to take place safely. The project has been split into three phases to help minimise disruption for residents and businesses, with all traffic management removed over the Christmas period. Traffic controls will be lifted on December 5 and reinstated on January 5.

A public information event will be held at Strand Hall, Builth Wells, on Wednesday, October 15 where members of the public can gain further information about the planned works.

Notifications of the works will be published on the Traffic Wales website.

The resurfacing is part of a £25 million Welsh Government programme to renew major roads and prevent around 30,000 road defects and potholes across Wales. The investment will see an additional 100 kilometres of the strategic road network resurfaced, prioritising routes most in need of repair.
