Sennybridge YFC had a week to remember at this year’s Royal Welsh Winter Fair, with members collecting awards and achieving top results in several competitions.

At the Farming Connect Agri Academy 2025, Ellis was crowned Junior Challenge winner and also took the Member’s Choice award in the junior section, while Huw Thomas earned the Senior Member’s Choice Award. Huw is soon jetting off to the sunnier climes of New Zealand and Australia, and the club wishes him well on his travels - hopefully he will be back before the rally!

The club also excelled in the stockjudging competitions, with Sennybridge members representing the county well. In Lamb Carcass judging, Anest placed first under 16, Nia W third under 18, Cerys seventh under 21, and Nia H third under 28, helping the team to a first-place finish overall - a great achievement. In the Butchers Beef competition, Daniel was second under 18 section and Meg fourth under 28, with the team taking third place overall. Rose (under 18) and Morley (under 28) competed in Butchers Lambs as part of the Brecknock team, finishing in eighth position overall. Nia and Meg also represented the county in the Create an Advent Calendar competition, coming in eighth place among a strong field.

Overall, Brecknock County finished second in stockjudging and second overall, reflecting strong teamwork across all events.

The club is also celebrating Evie, who has been elected Vice-Chair of the Wales YFC Youth Forum, a role that will see her represent the views of junior YFC members across Wales.

Sennybridge YFC is part of the Brecknock YFC network, affiliated with Wales YFC and the National Federation of Young Farmers’ Clubs. Brecknock County has 12 clubs and more than 500 members.
