A newly formed children's community choir in Llandrindod Wells is already making its mark, thanks to the generous support of Llandrindod Wells Town Council.
Recently, choir members gathered at the town's iconic bandstand alongside the Mayor and Deputy Mayor for a special photograph to celebrate the town council's grant of £250, which was further boosted by personal donations from Mayor Cllr Steve Deeks de Silva and Deputy Mayor Cllr Kim Nichols from their respective allowances.
To mark the occasion and express their gratitude, the children performed one of the songs they have been rehearsing, with proud parents and supporters gathering to watch.
The choir was founded by Mandy Davies and Lorraine Cadwallader-Jones, who have long shared a vision of creating a children's community choir where local children can develop confidence, build friendships and experience the joy of singing together.
They said: "We are incredibly grateful to Llandrindod Wells Town Council, our initial primary sponsors, and to Mayor Steve Deeks de Silva and Deputy Mayor Kim Nichols for their generous support and belief in our vision. Their contributions have helped turn a long-held dream into a reality and provided the foundations for what we hope will become a lasting part of our community."
"We wanted to create something that nurtures the talents and confidence of local children while bringing people together through music. Seeing the enthusiasm and commitment of the young singers already has been truly inspiring, and we are excited to share their performances with the wider community."
The choir's first public performance will take place on Llandrindod Wells Carnival Day on Saturday, July 4, where the children are looking forward to entertaining residents and visitors alike.
As the choir grows, leaders hope it becomes a valued part of community life across Llandrindod Wells, giving young people opportunities to shine.
