A voluntary group has issued a call for helpers to lend a hand maintaining a Mid Wales park.

The Friends of Rock Park group maintained parts of Rock Park in Llandrindod Wells during the pandemic, although now certain parts have become overgrown. The group has made progress but are now looking for a bit of extra help.

If you are someone who values Rock Park as a place to take a relaxing walk, someone who appreciates the towering trees, plants and wildlife, perhaps you could lend a land.

The park is also popular with dog owners, who can take their canine companion down to the stream and walk through the woods to Lovers Leap, before strolling beside the Ithon River.

A health spa and a bowling club are also held within the park’s grounds.

A spokesperson for the Friends of Rock Park said: “However you use Rock Park, on your own, with family and friends or with your dog, we are all incredibly lucky to have such an enriching space - are you able to lend a hand?”

The group meets at the entrance to the park, by the Gwalia, on Tuesday mornings and works from 10am until 12 midday.

You don’t have to commit to coming every week - just join the team when you can.

Gardening experience isn’t necessary and there are light tasks as well as ‘bushwacking’ to do.

If you have basic tools like your own gloves and secateurs that would be great but the group can also provide what is needed.
