A grateful dog has penned a “thank-you” letter to the Llanwrtyd Wells firefighters who rescued him after he became trapped on an embankment last month.
Luca, an English Setter, was saved by the crew after getting stuck on steep ground near Cynghordy on September 23. Firefighters navigated rough terrain and dense woodland before locating him and using a rope line to bring him safely back to his owner.

Now, Luca’s owner, Gill Price, has shared a handwritten note - written from the dog’s perspective - expressing his thanks to the team who came to his aid.
“I wasn’t expecting to meet you all on the day you came to rescue me,” the letter reads. “I’m sorry if I hid while you were searching for me - it was all a bit daunting.”
He adds: “Things were so much better when you put me inside that rather comfortable bag and hauled me up that dangerous piece of forestry ground that seemed too steep to climb. I was exhausted when I got home and was flat out for hours... I expect you were too.”
Luca also joked that his “Chief of Staff” - his owner - “still has not recovered” from the ordeal, and praised the crew as “Our Heroes from the Llanwrtyd Wells Fire Brigade.”
The note follows the team’s successful rescue last month, which was featured in the newspaper.
