HAY-on-Wye Bowling Club held their annual dinner at the Castlefields last Saturday.

Rob Williams, the Welsh Bowls Association President for 2016 chose the stroke unit at Brecon War Memorial Hospital as his charity due to the amazing work carried out by them.

Rob presented a cheque for £1,500 to Liz Samuel, Kath James and Billy Finn, staff members at the stroke unit.

As his role of Welsh Bowls Association president, Rob has travelled the length of the British Isles to matches and functions.

He also organised three high profile games at Hay on Wye that included presidents team v Hay-on-Wye, team Wales v team England and team Wales v Barbarians.

Rob is not only the WBA President he is chairman of the Hay-on-Wye Club. He is the greenskeeper, he has also been seen cutting the green at 6.45am for games to be played in the afternoon.

He has even been seen with an apron on cooking on the barbecue for various functions. If there is a job to be done Rob will do it.

Hay Bowling Club may not be the league’s best but they can boast they have the WBA Welsh President who has brought Hay-on-Wye Bowling Club to the forefront.
