Brecon Phoenix Amateur Boxing Club had a busy evening on Friday, October 24, with boxers competing at two separate shows.
Junior boxer Jak Phillips made his debut at Ebbw Vale against a taller, experienced opponent. Jak boxed impressively and gained valuable experience, but didn’t get the judges’ decision this time.
Over in Mountain Ash at the Hope and Glory show, Aayush Magar had his third bout. He started strong, giving his opponent two standing counts in the first round. The second round was more even, but Aayush turned up the heat in the third to stop his opponent, securing a brilliant victory.
Finally, Charlie Symmons was in action in a youth bout. He was performing well until the second round, when a blow to the nose prompted the ringside doctor to stop the contest for safety reasons.
It was a night of one win and two valuable lessons for the Phoenix boxers. Coaches Vinny, Andy, Dave, and Claire were pleased with their performances and are looking forward to several bouts booked later this year across Wales and England.
