Brecon boxer Daniel Pitt has been confirmed as part of the Wales boxing team for this summer’s Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
The announcement was made this morning as Team Wales revealed its full squad for the Games, which run from July 23 to August 2.
Pitt is one of seven Welsh boxers selected and will travel to Scotland aiming to compete for medals on the international stage.
The 114-strong Team Wales squad will compete across 10 sports, including athletics, swimming, cycling, gymnastics, judo, weightlifting, netball and wheelchair basketball. Of those selected, 22 are para-athletes, with 66 women and 48 men making up the team.
For Pitt, the selection marks another major step in an already impressive career in the ring. His achievements include four Welsh Open titles, two British Youth Championships, four international Box Cup gold medals, and a World Youth Championship title won in Colorado in 2024.
Brecon Phoenix ABC said the club is “immensely proud” of his achievement and wished him every success in Glasgow.
Pitt will line up alongside fellow Welsh boxers Connor Williams, Helen Jones, Niamh Brookes, Orlando Holley-Sotomi, Owain Harris-Allan and Rosie Eccles.
Team Wales Chef de Mission Gethin Jones said the squad represented “the very best of Welsh sport”, adding that athletes would be supported to perform at their best on the Commonwealth stage.
