Brecon boxer Dan Pitt has added an international gold medal to his UK 86 kg Champion title.

Dan, 18, was based with the Welsh team out in Romania taking part in Dracula Cup. He spent a full week at the tournament, which was broadcast on YouTube, allowing Dan’s fans back home the ability to follow his progress.

Dan came up against a Ukrainian champion in the semi-finals - a veteran of 100 bouts. This proved to be an epic battle during which Dan showed incredible grit and fitness to win on a split decision.

He then faced the Armenian champion in the final on Sunday night. His opponent had taken part in 150 bouts and had dispatched his quarter and semi-final opponents in a matter of seconds in the first round of the contests.

With this being only Dan’s 12th bout this seemed a tall order for Brecon’s southpaw boxer. But we needn't have worried - the Welsh coaches set Dan a game plan which he stuck to brilliantly. - completely outboxing his opponent and getting a unanimous decision for the gold medal.

This title is a brilliant achievement for Dan who shows great promise for future success.
