Builth Bike Bash committee recently held their annual Pump Track Open day at Builth Wells Pump Track.

Despite the typical April weather of sunshine and showers plenty of children and young adults brought their bikes and enthusiasm to ensure that another great event was had on The Groe.

The Pump Track open day has been held every year since the track opened in 2022.

The day included Joe from Extreme Landscapes (the firm that built the track), who came along and gave a display of his BMX skills. He also spent lots of time coaching and encouraging the children, some of whom have attended every open day and now are really very skilled!

Ffion James from Beicio Cymru also attended, bringing her bike and coaching skills to generally help out with the event.

Because the track was wet at times, it was decided that riders would avoid speed racing so the races consisted of no pedalling, just pumping around the track. Stafford supervised the timing and everyone completed two laps.

The Builth Bike Bash committee had bought enough easter eggs as prizes so that everyone who took part received a prize.

Rob Lloyd brought along his coffee bike and kept everyone’s spirits high, serving delicious hot and cold drinks.

Donna Williams from The Builth Bike Bash committee said: Wewould like to thank BSW Sawmills who sponsored the event, and everyone who came along to make it another successful event.”

The committee’s next event is the Builth Bike Bash, held on The Groe on Sunday, 6 September. The Bike Bash usually sees participants ride around The Groe in Builth Wells to help replicate the distance of a chosen distance. In September 2025, riders at the Bike Bash rode a total amount of 1373 miles, which was more than twice the distance of last year’s Tour of Britain.
