Glangrwyney 2nds 32 all out Talybont 33 for 1

TALYBONT moved into second place behind leaders Hay on Wye after a comprehensive nine wicket win over local rivals Glangwryney who made the journey up the A40 with just nine men.

Captain Dan Bowen won the toss and asked Glan to bat. New ball openers Huw Griffiths and Lewis deacon (1 for 14 off 5) continued their fine partnership with Deacon striking first getting Bob Howell caught by Craig Robinson for 3.

Griffiths then struck trapping John Parkinson LBW for 3 and clean bowling Glyn Mccadam and John Hooper both for nought as Glan slid to 19 for 4. Griffiths ending his spell with the outstanding figures of 10 overs, seven maidens three for three.

Simon Hindle with 10 was the only Glan batsmen to reach double figures before he fell to a tremendous boundary catch by Richard James off the bowling of Carl Lewis 2 for 6. Martin Hurst was also amongst the wickets for Bont as he bowled Jack Hooper for 1 and Eddie Harding LBW for nought in a another economical spell of 8 overs 6 maidens 2 for 6.

It was Lewis who brought an end to the Glans innings with Josh Devoy LBW for 4 and the innings closing on just 32 all out. Glans opening bowlers Haydn Davies and Jack hooper both bowled tidy spells with hooper getting Craig Samuel caught by father John for two.

Bowen and robinson then saw Bont to victory with Robinson striking the winning run as he ended 11 not out and Bowen 16 not.

Bont collected 24 points and Glan headed home with no points despite their committed efforts. A game played in fine spirit with Bont set up nicely for their top of the table clash at Hay on Wye next Saturday.
