Builth Wells eased to a comfortable eight-wicket victory over Ledbury in the Worcester Cricket league Division Seven (South), writes Paul Worts.
Playing their last home match of the season, Builth put the visitors in and restricted them to 140 for 9 from 45 overs. Dylan McPhee (3-22) again led the attack but all the bowlers gave little away with Aled Powell (3-32), Samuel Avis (2-28) and Dai Davies (1-10) the other wicket takers. Martin Hurst and Harri Phillips were wicketless, but both bowled economical spells.
Builth took just 20 overs to knock off the runs with Neil Harris and Timmy Richards putting on 72 for the opening wicket before Richards fell for 26. Harris (54) got to 50 for the first time for Builth leaving Aled Powell (46 not out), who completed a good afternoon’s work, and Martin Hurst (3 not out) to see them to a sixth straight win.
Builth, who remain fourth in the table, end their league season away at Barnards Green on Saturday.
Builth captain, Dylan McPhee made yet another appearance for Wales Over 40s last Friday taking 2 for 19 as they beat India Over 40s by seven wickets at Newport. India were bowled out for 94 and Wales comfortably reached their target with Ryan Evans making 40 not out.
