Builth Wells returned to winning ways in the Worcester Cricket League Division Seven (South) with a nine-wicket victory at Ledbury.
Chasing 190, the Bulls reached their target in 29 overs for the loss of just one wicket.
Ledbury chose to bat first and got off to a blistering start getting to 70 for 1 in just seven overs. But Builth picked up regular wickets from there through Dylan McPhee (1-22), Hari Phillips (2-17), Lyndon Jones (2-23), Musa Makhubela (2-37), Sujeewa Senarathen (2-39) and Martin Hurst (1-2). Opener, Josh Evans top scored with 63 for the home side.
In reply, Builth lost Neil Harris to the second ball of the innings but that was as good as it got for Ledbury as Senarathne and Timmy Richards put together a magnificent 192 unbroken second-wicket partnership. Senarathne reached his first century for Builth, finishing with an unbeaten 107, while the in-form Richards ended on 65 not out.
Builth, who lie fourth in the league table, complete the first half of their season on Saturday when they welcome Barnards Green 3rds to Garth Road.
Meanwhile, McPhee played a leading role as The Forty Club (Wales) beat their Surrey & West Sussex counterparts by 23 runs at Trowbridge last Thursday. Wales elected to bat and made 213 with Michael Provis (54) topscoring. McPhee, batting at nine, found himself stranded, unbeaten on 14 from 12 balls when Wales were all out with ten balls of their 45 over remaining.
When Surrey batted, McPhee made an early breakthough and the Builth Wells captain then took two wickets in a second spell to finish with an impressive 3-34 from eight overs. Surrey & West Sussex were dismissed for 190.
The game was in the Inter District Trophy, which Wales are the holders, and they now meet Eastern Counties in the next round.
