Builth Wells maintained their form in the Worcester Cricket League Division Seven (South) with an excellent five-wicket win over second-placed Amigos Kempsey.

Dylan McPhee won the toss, put the visitors in to bat, and immediately had Amigos on the back foot. The Builth captain (4-12), who is bowling as well as ever, reduced the visitors to 13 for 3.

Reebu Babu (21) and Manu Pappuchan (42) put up some resistance before Babu was removed by Musa Makhubela (1-38). Harri Phillips (1-43) and Sujeewa Senarathe (1-22) kept the pressure on before veteran, Martin Hurst claimed 3 for 14 as Amigos were dismissed for 134.

Builth’s reply was not all plain sailing as they slipped to 56 for 4 but opener, Senarathne (69 not out) held the inning together with McPhee weighing in with 23 to see Builth to a fifth straight victory.

Builth will hope to keep up their winning run on Saturday when they visit leaders, Woolhope, who have lost just once all season.

Hay picked up a good win in Division Eight (South), beating Bosbury away by five wickets. Batting first, Bosbury made a healthy 259 for 3 with Mark Walker (112 not out) and Simon Wilson (63 not out) sharing in an unbroken fourth wicket partnership of 125. Mark Burgess was the pick of the Hay bowlers with 1 for 20 from his nine overs.

Hay were not daunted and set about their task with openers, Tim Masters (51) and Rhydian Evans-Bevan putting on 95. Both fell in quick succession but Will Price (53) and John Sly (92 not out) carried on the good work putting on 140 before Price was caught and bowled. But Sly saw Hay over the line with an over to spare with some big hitting - including 10 fours and five sixes from just 55 balls.
