Builth Wells made it back-to-back wins in the Worcester League Division Seven (South) with a five-wicket victory over former Marches League rivals, Garnons who made 248 for 6 in the Garth Road sunshine, writes Paul Worts.

For Builth, Martin Hurst took 3-41 and debutant South African fast bowler, Musa Makhubela (2-36) picked up his first wickets for the club.

It was a decent score but Builth were up to the task and reached their total in the 32nd over with captain Dylan McPhee (83 not out) and Aled Powell (71) leading the way.

Elsewhere, Hay collected their first win in Division Eight (South), triumphing by nine wickets at Ledbury 2nds. There were wickets for Mark Burgess, Huw Griffiths, Gabriel Moore, Gareth Grant and John Sly as the hosts were bowled out for 135. Hay raced to the total for the loss of just one wicket with captain, Gareth Grant (71 not out) and John Sly (40 not out) on form with the bat.

In Division Nine (North Herefordshire), Presteigne eased to an eight-wicket win over Almely 2nds bowling the visitors out for 86. Byron Jones (4-6) did most of the damage aided by Charlie Sankey (2-20) and Matthew Pudge (2-8). Presteigne knocked off the runs in just 11 and a half overs with Edwards Rees making 43 not out while Sankey (22 not out) completed a good afternoon’s work.

Builth Wells 2nds went down by 62 runs at Burghill, Tillington & Weobley 3rds who posted an impressive 296 for 7.

In reply, Builth lost openers, Paul Rowe and Ian Morgan cheaply but Dai Davies (76), Steff Towns (54) and Jonny Curzon (40) got runs before they fell short at 234 for 7.
