Gareth Grant returned to inspire Hay to an eight-wicket win against Eastnor 2nds in the Worcester Cricket League Division Eight (South), writes Paul Worts.

The Hay captain took 3 for 22 in his nine overs as Eastnor were bowled out for 147 before hitting 73 in their reply.

It was a fine all-round performance from Hay with Grant and Gabriel Moore (2-38) having Eastnor in early trouble. Gus Price weighed in with 2-19 before David Cooke (3-17) finished Eastnor off.

Grant then dominated an 86-run opening partnership with Tim Masters (21) hitting 13 fours and three sixes. When he was out Luke Bowen, making his first appearance of the season, hammered a quickfire 43 not out as Hay reached their total inside 22 overs.

Hay are now just eight points behind Luctonians who suffered a one-wicket defeat at home against Ledbury 2nds and Kington are a point off the leaders after beating Bosbury by five wickets despite being without key personell.

Jacob Houchin (3-30) continued his fine summer and youngster, Connor Powles picked up 3-18 for Kington as Bosbury were all out for 155. Henry Powell (26), Houchin (33) and Aiden Mills (32) got runs in Kington’s response before a patient 32 not out from Rob Stokes saw them home.
