In-form Presteigne kept the pressure on Moccas at the top of the Worcester Cricket League Division Nine (Herefordshire North) with a sixth straight win.

The Radnorshire men hosted Burghill, Tillington & Weobley 3rds and won by five wickets after restricting their opposition to 179 for 9 from 40 overs. David Austin (4-32) took four wickets for the third match in a row and Joey Jones returned figures of 3 for 21 for Presteigne. Ed Rees (1-38) and Mark Ammonds (1-15) were the other wicket takers.

Mark Ammonds (37) got the Presteigne innings off to a good start and Ed Rees chipped in with 16 before man of the match, Joey Jones (47 not out) and Alan Stocker (29 not out) saw them home with seven overs to spare and five wickets in hand.

Presteigne take on title rivals, Moccas on Saturday, 11 points behind the leaders, who maintained their 100 per cent record by notching a narrow two-wicket victory over Builth Wells 2nds, who could only muster 142 for 6 from 40 overs. Captain, Jonny Curzon hit 59 for Builth, his fourth half century of the term, supported by Tanzeem Raees (24) and Ian Morgan (26 not out) with Bill Bowen and Ollie Price each taking two wickets for the league leaders.

Sam Charles (66), Jack Goring (22) and Tom Price (22) got the bulk of the runs in Moccas’ chase although Builth made them work hard for the win with Raees, on his seasonal debut, picking up 3 for 21, Morgan 2 for 20 and Michael Griffiths 2 for 22.
