Kington 2nds 62 all out Talybont-on-Usk CC 64 for 2
TALYBONT moved into fourth position with an emphatic eight wicket away win on a sunny humid day.
Skipper Dan Bowen yet again won the toss and duly inserted Kington on a damp wicket after overnight rain. Opening bowlers Huw Griffiths (2 for 8 off 10 with five maidens) and Lewis Deacon (o for 5 off 7 with 3 maidens) bowled very tightly.
Griffiths trapped Thompson (2) LBW and bowled Mason (5) with Guy Williams and Richard James getting two good run outs plus Carl Lewis (2 for 21 off 6) having Fellows (1) sharply caught behind by Dan Bowen reducing Kington to 16 for 5 and in deep trouble.
Veteran skipper Jim Lewis (9) then became a Carl Lewis LBW victim with the score at 22 for 6 and it then became the Lewis Mallom show with him getting two good runs and a catch off Richard James (1 for 23 off 3).
Kington’s innings then ended with Caleb Kent’s solid knock of 31 being ended with an excellent catch by Lewis Deacon off Martin Hurst (1 for 2 off 3) to leave Kington all out in the 27 over.
On batting, Dan Bowen (13) and Craig Samuel (5) put on 12 before Samuel fell LBW to teenager Sarah Lewis (2 for 14 off 6) who bowled well and then had Bowen caught to leave the Bont 28 for 2.
Kiwi, Craig Robinson (31 NO) was in no mood to hand around with three fours and two sixes and with the aid of Martin Hurst (3 NO) the target of 63 was soon passed in just 14 overs. Robinson finished the game with a big six over square leg boundary into an adjacent street.
