Brockhampton CC 4ths 155 for 9 Talybont CC 1sts 157 for 3 .

TALYBONT made the journey to the marvellous setting of Brockhampton and came away with a fine seven wicket win to remain at the top of the table with just four games remaining.

Captain Dan Bowen won the toss and asked the home side to bat and Bont struck an early blow in the first over with Huw Griffiths bowling Graham Parker for four.

Brock then got themselves back in the game as Alex Hinckley and Rob Broadbridge added 43 before Griffiths got Hinkley LBW for a quick-fire 31. Martin Hurst then got Broadbridge for 19 thanks to a catch by keeper Bowen.

Hurst (10 overs 1 maiden 3 for 30) and Griffiths (10 overs 5 maidens 3 for 21) combined to get Bont well on top with Griffiths bowling Jacob Broadbridge for one and hurst bowling Rob Holgate for 18 and Joe Pritchard for 12 with an unplayable delivery as Brock stumbled to 98 for six.

Elliot Broadbridge then struck 30 as Brock fought back before he was LBW to spinner Carl Lewis (10 overs 2 for 30) with lewis also bowling Huw Meredith for 10.

Richard James (4 overs 1 for 26) then picked up a wicket to leave Brock end on 155 for nine as they denied Bont the maximum bowling points.

Bont’s openers Bowen and Mick Mcalister started well against some accurate bowling before mcalister was caught for a gritty five as the pair added 33. Martin Hurst was next to go as he fell to a spectacular catch for 0.

Bowen was standing firm as himself and Richard James got the run chase back on track with an excellent stand of 89 with James after a cautious start playing his part to aid Bowen as he struck 16 boundaries in a classic captains innings.

With just six runs needed, James was stumped for a fine 36 to leave Huw Griffiths strike the winning runs as he ended seven not out and Bowen a superb effort of 88 not out to guide his team through.

Bont pick up another 24 points as they moved a step nearer to promotion. This weekend, Bont travel to Wormelow 3rds for the top of the table clash.
