SATURDAY dawned dry and sunny, a day where batsmen should prosper and bowlers toil away, but no one read the script.
Goodrich were the visitors to Glangrwyney, the home side winning the toss and electing to bat. Mike Devoy and Ryan Sharp making a steady start, before Devoy’s departure heralded the start of a steady fall of wickets for Glangrwyney, being reduced to 52-6.
Whilst this was going on Tim Jones struck 10 boundaries in his 48 to keep the scoreboard moving, before the tail wagged,Tom Miller(11), Nicky Jones(25) and Jim Astle(19) getting the score up to 152. For Goodrich Mark Bradford was the pick of the bowlers with four wickets, Chris Abell, Max Pye, and Sam Griffiths’ two apiece.
After a good tea, on taking the field Glangrwyney’s Captain Mike Devoy (5-22) led from the front ripping out the heart of Goodrich’s batting line up with help from Nicky Jones (1-21), Goodrich collapsing to 27-7 from which they never recovered, smart fielding gaining a runout and Julian Hardwick (2-0) cleaning up the tail, Goodrich ending up 44 all out, with only Chris Abell getting into double figures.
Glangrwyney’s 108 run victory keeping them out of the relegation zone.
