BRECON Cricket Club’s 1st team have definitely returned to form with a convincing victory away against Sully’s 1st team.

Batting first Brecon totalled a massive 311 for 3, which sent historians leafing through club records to find that another club record had fallen, this time most runs totalled in an innings.

The innings was dominated by a brilliant century from Greg Webber with 124no to underline his prolific start to the season. He received excellent support in two century run stands, the first of 106 with Matt Williams (50) and then with Gethin Phillips (63) in a partnership of 123.

The total was a massive challenge for Sully which they never looked like taking up on a day which Brecon dominated from start to finish. The Brecon bowling was led expertly by John Kenchington with 6 for 32, on what had been a batsman’s day until he took the ball; the remaining wickets were shared evenly between the other bowlers. At the end of the day a one sided encounter was settled by the fine batting display from Brecon which promises well for the rest of the season.

The 2nd team scored a convincing home victory against The Vale in a game sponsored by Calibre Connections Brecon. Batting first they totalled 214 all out, the first time for a considerable time they have failed to bat out the overs.

Steve Kenchington once again top scored with 58 runs, Ryan Morgan (28), Ben Kenchington (27) and Mark Waldeck (18) also made worthy contributions.

The Vale bowlers did well to stick to their task and but for some indifferent fielding Brecon’s total could well have been less formidable.

Despite a good start The Vales innings never really came to terms with the challenge and in the end concluded on 150 all out.

For Brecon the wickets were shared between Steve Kenchington 3 for 19, making it another good day for him, Derek Osborne 3 for 41, just missing out on a hat trick, and with one each Ben Kenchington, Ryan Morgan and Gwyn Price.
