Football coaches from Hay St Mary’s Football Club have announced the final amount they have raised for the club from their 76-mile sponsored walk.

The total amount raised came to £2,883.06 and will go towards the junior section of the football club.

From Friday, May 3 to Sunday, May 5, eight football coaches walked 76 miles from Chepstow Castle to Hay Castle.

On the first day, the group walked 23 miles from Chepstow to Symonds Yat. They walked from Symonds Yat to Hereford the next day, a 30-mile walk. The challenge ended with a 23-mile walk from Hereford to Hay Castle.

The walkers included Nathan Morgan, Gareth Ratcliffe, Josh Davies, Dan Jones, Joe O'hagan, Gary Price, Tommy Swales, Clair Swales, and Sam Cook.

A celebration was held at the club following the conclusion of the walk.

Coach and one of the eight walkers, Nathan Morgan said: “After completing that incredible 76-mile sponsored walk, I'm thrilled to share that the final amount raised, after fees, came out to a staggering £2,883.06!

“This incredible sum will make such a meaningful difference for the junior section of Hay St Mary’s Football Club.

“It's been about seven weeks since finishing the walk, and I'm only just now starting to recover - it was certainly a gruelling, but immensely rewarding challenge. But none of this would have been possible without the incredible support and generosity of everyone who donated, as well as the amazing folks who joined me on the walk over those three days.

“I'm still in awe of what we were able to accomplish together! I'm truly grateful beyond words for the local community coming together to support our beloved football club in such an impactful way. This is a testament to the power of community and what we can achieve when we work together towards a common goal. Thank you all, from the bottom of my heart!”
