ELLIOT Williams scored a hat-trick in the second half of extra-time as 10 man Llandrindod Wells booked their place in the second round of the Spar Mid Wales League Cup with a 4-2 victory over local rivals, Builth Wells.

Llandrindod were down to 10 men after 15 minutes of the second half with Ben Jones picking up a second yellow card but took the lead with Kejan Foryszewski heading in Kieran McCarley‘s cross.

Josh Price levelled for Builth late in the 90 minutes and Dave Thomas put the Lant men ahead in the first half of extra-time when Price was brought down.

Elliot Williams opened his account from the penalty spot following a foul on Shaun Nicholls to tie the scores and then edged Llandrindod in front with a 35 yard free-kick. And Williams completed his hat-trick meaning there was no way back for Builth with his second spot-kick when Robbie Nicholls was brought down.

Progress to the second round was more plain sailing for Rhayader Town and Knighton Town who both recorded 4-0 away wins.

Player-manager, Worton then took the corner for Adam Farmer to head a second and Sam Williams increased the lead. Jack Brindley rounded off the win with hgis first senior goal after good work from mark Jones who himself twice nit the woodwork.

Presteigne expected a difficult test when they hosted first division Carno but gave a good account of themselves particularly in the first half. Matt Strangwood gave Presteigne the lead in first half stoppage time but Carno were a different proposition in the second half.

The visitors twice hit the woodwork before Peter Rees levelled on the hour and further goals from Andy Evans and Rees saw Carno through with a 3-1 scoreline.
