Llandrindod Wells carry the hopes of mid Wales with them as they travel to Cardiff Corinthians in the quarter-final of the Dragon Signs FAW Amateur Trophy on Saturday.
The Spa men have enjoyed a fantastic Cup run with victories over Tywyn Bryncrug, Builth Wells, Abertillery Excelsiors, AFC Llwydcoed and Aberfan taking them to this stage. Player-manager, Gareth Jones acknowledges that this could be their toughest challenge to date with Corries top of the South Wales Alliance Premier Division.
But Llandrindod have got nothing to lose and travel on the back of a good run of form as they had notched three straight wins prior to Saturday’s defeat at Llanrhaeadr..
Builth Wells are at home to Corwen in the Ardal League North East. Their opponents are one from bottom in the league table but have drawn their last four. Builth will be targeting three points as they have an impressive home record in the Ardal League having lost just once in eight starts on The Lant Field.
Rhayader Town have no game and it will be frustrating for the Weirglodd side who really need a run of games to gain some kind of momentum as they look to avoid relegation.
Rhayader turned in a decent performance last Saturday at Llangollen and manager, Dylan McPhee said: “We have got to be happy with a point and a clean sheet away from home but unfortunately the sides around us in the league table have all been picking up points."
It is Friday night football for Brecon Corries who travel to Goytre AFC where they are likely to come up against former Rhayader Town goalkeeper, Kham Steventon who switched to the Gwent club in the January transfer window.
All roads locally lead to Forest Road on Friday night as Hay St Marys and Radnor Valley go head to head in a top of the table clash in the MMP Central Wales League (South).
The Saints go into what could be their biggest game of the season holding a one point lead over their rivals but Radnor have a game in hand.
Both have lost just once in the league this time with a depleted Radnor going down at home 4-2 against Llanilar while Hay were beaten 3-2 at Machynlleth.
But since those defeats in September and October, the title rivals have each reeled of nine successive league wins.
It might not be the title decider but the outcome on Friday night could have a major bearing on who end the season as Champions.
Talgarth Town and Knighton Town meet in the second of back to back league fixtures while Presteigne St Andrews welcome Machynlleth to Llanandras Park.
