KNIGHTON Town are out of the Central Wales Challenge Cup following a 5-0 defeat at the hands of Huws Gray Alliance side, Guilsfield.
With Bryn-y-Castell waterlogged, quick thinking from Knighton managers’ Adam Worton and Jason Samuel saw the tie played on Newtown’s artificial pitch. The Robins made a bright start and could well have taken the lead but The Guils were two up at the break and a third early in the second half ended Town’s Cup hopes.
For the record, Jake Cook and Aaron Edwards each netted twice for Guilsfield with substitute, Mark Davies completing the tally.
Llanidloes Town eased through with a 3-0 win against Bont with goals from Warren Sherwood, Rhys Evans and Matthew Savage while also through are Carno and Machylleth.
Andy Evans, Greg Brown and Jordan Jones contributed to Carno’s 3-0 success over Borth United who replied through Jamie Morris while Machynlleth conceded home advantage to progress 5-1 at Tywyn Bryncrug.
Harry Holt and Richie Evans each scored twice with Andrew Page also on target while Ben Richards gained Tywyn’s consolation. The remainder of the days ties were wiped out by waterlogged pitches.
In an Emrys Morgan Cup third round tie, Crannog are through after Huw Reed scored the only goal in a 1-0 success over Aberdyfi.
