Ffostrasol gatecrashed Knighton Town’s celebration party with a 3-0 victory at Bryn-y-Castell in the MMP Central Wales League (South).
Knighton received the League Championship trophy after the game which saw their unbeaten record ended at the final hurdle with Ffostrasol deserved winners on the day.
The West Wales visitors broke the deadlock when Iolo Thomas headed home from a Dafydd Phillips cross a minute before half-time. Knighton, who were without Luke Boundford, struggled to create chances of their own against a well organised Ffostrasol who doubled their lead midway through the second half. The impressive Callum Shirt was denied by‘keeper, Nick Cadwallader and substitute, Keane Moore netted the rebound.
And there was no way back for The Radnor Robins 12 minutes later with Cadwallader again saving from Shirt and Moore again following up to despatch the rebound.
Knighton were obviously disappointed having gone so close to being unbeaten through the league campaign but they have had an excellent season and deserve to be promoted to Tier Three.
