BRECON FC continue to keep the pressure on Rhayader Town Reserves at the top of the Watson Financial Mid Wales League (South) following a 3-0 win at Llandrindod Wells Reserves.

Rhodri Boosey rose highest to head Brecon in front from a first half corner. Llandrindod, who previously had a 100% home record, threatened to get back in the game in the second half but a brace from topscorer, Kyle O’Shea clinched the spoils for Brecon.

Rhayader maintained top spot with a 3-0 success over the border in Newcastle courtesy of John Foster, Pete Horne and newlywed Tom Jones while third placed, Knighton Town Reserves were the days biggest scorers.

The Robins hammered Builth Wells Reserves 8-0 with Ollie Richards helping himself to four, including three from the penalty spot. Adam Farmer, Dan Farmer, Jack Weston and Ross Proudman were the other Knighton marksmen.

St Harmon picked up a useful three points beating Hay St Marys Reserves 4-2 at The Bryn. Stu Rees handed Hay the lead but Ryan Addison levelled and Hywel Watson headed The Swifts in front from a Josh Rees cross.

Aaron Bates drilled home a third for St Harmon after the break but Nathan Heighway pulled one back for Hay only to see Adam Martin seal it for the home side with the influential Rees again the provider.

Llanidloes Town Reserves swept into the second Round of the Pip Samuel (Electrical) Mid Wales (South) League Cup with a convincing 5-1 win against local rivals, Carno Rserves. Rhys Evans led the way with two of the goals and Keegan Bradley, Joe Pritchard and Dylan Howells were also on target with Aaron Leary replying for Carno.
