RHAYADER Town completed the second part of a Mid Wales (South) League and Cup double by lifting the Pip Samuel (Electrical) League Cup at Builth Wells last Saturday. Stuart Kinrade’s side triumphed 4-2 on penalties after the sides had been goalless after extra-time.

There were few chances throughout the two hours of football on one of the hottest days of the year with Rhayader holding their nerve in the shoot out to cap an outstanding season.

Rhayader had completed their league campaign last Wednesday night with a surprise 4-2 defeat at Llandrindod Wells Reserves.

The Spa men had raced to a 4-0 interval lead through Elliot Williams, Kieran McCarley (2) and Jason Coles. Rhayader, who rested a few players n view of Saturday’s League Cup Final, hit back after the break through Gavin Samuel and Michael Fowlie.

There is just one match remaining to complete the league season with Brecon FC having to travel to Carno Reserves. That was postponed on Saturday with Brecon unable to raise a team.
