Talgarth Town FC Ladies have enjoyed a successful first season, securing a tournament win and finishing as runners-up in their league.

The team placed second in the South Wales Women and Girls League Division 2, earning 31 points - just behind champions Pontypridd AFC Ladies.

Talgarth went through the league campaign with just one defeat, recording nine wins and four draws.

They finished as the league’s highest scorers with a remarkable 61 goals, led by top scorer Caitlin O’Shea, who netted 27 goals across all competitions.

With 30 players involved throughout the season, the team has brought fresh energy and commitment to the football scene in Talgarth.

To cap off their season, they entered two squads into a summer tournament at Hereford Lads Club — and both teams made it to the final, making it an all-Talgarth showdown and ensuring the trophy came home!

A spokesperson for the club said: “What a season it's been! And we are so proud to announce that we have finished second in the league in our first season as a team. This is a massive achievement.

“We have improved so much throughout the season, from securing our place in the second of three divisions in the SWWGL to going undefeated at home and having the highest goal difference in the league.

“We would also like to say a huge thank you again to everyone at Talgarth Town FC for their incredible support this season from the moment we joined the club. Whether that's those on the committee, running the bar, the after-game food etc, there's a lot going on behind the scenes. Ut doesn't go unnoticed and we are so appreciative - so thank you!

“We would love to keep getting more girls and ladies involved in grassroots football!”

The team train on Tuesdays from 6:30pm to 8pm.
