Challenging winds didn’t deter a record 34 teams from taking part in the 12th Annual Charity Golf Day hosted by Builth Wells Rotary Club earlier this month..
The event was held at Builth Wells Golf Club on Friday, July 4.
The charity golf day was held with the support of PGA professional and manager Simon Edwards and drew mostly local teams, with others travelling from as far as Pembroke to take part.
The day featured friendly but competitive golf, with plenty of prizes to win, including nearest the pin, longest drive, and best dressed golfer. These awards added some extra fun alongside the main competition. Alongside the competition, the event raised funds for a number of good causes. These included Polio Plus, which supports global polio eradication efforts, ShelterBox, which supplies survival kits for disaster-hit areas, and several local charities.
The success of the event relied heavily on the generosity of local sponsors. The main sponsors were The Burger Manufacturing Co. Ltd and Coyle Surfacing, with major support also coming from Builth Wells Garages and several other businesses. Much-appreciated refreshments at the ninth hole – the popular halfway stop for players – were kindly donated by the Co-op, and provided a welcome boost for golfers braving the blustery conditions.

After a full and enjoyable day, the much-anticipates prize-giving took place back in the clubhouse, with thanks given to Rotary Club president Hugh Garner and all the Rotarians who helped make the day a success.
The winning men’s team was Jordan Jarvis, Callum Evans-Williams, Max Edwards and Dewi Evans with 105 points. The top-scoring ladies’ team was Kim Allen, Fran Lewis, Noreen O’Connor and Kara Parker with 84 points.
The Rotary Club is already looking forward to welcoming teams back for next year’s event on Friday, July 3, 2026.
