Recently, Cradoc Golf Club hosted a mixed open competition that proved extremely successful and well attended.

A large number of their own players took part over a hot weekend, alongside teams from across the country, including one from as far as Devon, who finished third. In total, 38 teams competed. The course was in excellent condition, allowing some very good golf to be played. Thanks and congratulations must go to John Bevan, Head Greenkeeper, and his team for maintaining the course so well despite the lack of rain.

The contest was closely fought, with four teams finishing on 44 Stableford points, leading to a countback on the last nine holes. The winners of the gross prize were Debbie Hudman and Rob Hudman, with a gross score of 77. After a tight battle, the winners of the mixed open Stableford competition were Andy Black and Brian Evans. Congratulations to the winners and everyone who took part on the day. The winners presented with the trophy by Ladies Captain Diane Davies.

Also recently, Cradoc hosted the Area Final of the Ladies R&A Competition. This prestigious event was held at Cradoc for the second consecutive year, attracting 35 teams competing for the chance to play golf at St Andrews in Scotland.

After a spell of fine weather, the Thursday morning round was disrupted by heavy showers, meaning those teams had to contend with very different conditions than the afternoon players. Cradoc was represented by Diane Davies and Ronnie Cresswell, who finished a creditable sixth overall.

Third place went to a team from Swansea Bay Golf Club - Karen Parry and Karen Dew. The runners-up, narrowly beaten on countback, were Collette Burgess and Hana Dabrowski from Bude and North Cornwall Golf Club. The winners were Susan Ruttell and Hannah Price-Evans from Maesteg Golf Club.
