POLICE Sport UK Judo Championships were held at Brecon Leisure Centre on Saturday September 24.
The event was hosted by Dyfed-Powys Police along with Gary and Louise Cole and family and 18 forces entered bringing a total of 69 competitors producing some fantastic judo.
A wonderful display of judo showed all the great qualities of judo including skill, consideration for their opponents and a great sporting attitude. Seven members of the Dyfed-Powys Police force entered this year’s event, three of them Members of Irfon Judo Club.
Gold Medal went to Gary Cole in the 66kg category, Mike Clements won the Silver Medal in the 100 kg Men Kyu and Stuart Eckley who withdrew due to an injury on the mat.
Following the championships there was pre-dinner entertainment from Brecon Male Voice Choir, a formal presentation dinner at the Castle Hotel of Brecon and live Band.
Next year’s event will be hosted by the Derbyshire Police Force.
