After a year’s break, the Llandrindod Wells & District Motorcycle Club held its long lap trial on Saturday, September 20, in the Hundred House and Aberedw areas of Radnorshire.
The charity event, supporting the Bracken Trust in Llandrindod Wells, attracted more than 160 riders from across the UK, including visitors from Scarborough, Colchester, and Jersey.
The trial began at Fforest Fields, Hundred House, and despite one of the wettest days of the year, most riders completed the course and enjoyed the scenic countryside. Riders tackled a variety of challenging sections, demonstrating skill and determination while helping to raise funds for the local charity.
In the Expert class, Newtown’s Gary Jenkins dominated, finishing 27 marks ahead of Brett Harbud, with George Clark in third. Dulais Valley club member Jason Galvin took the Intermediate class, narrowly ahead of Stourbridge’s Jack Harris and Oswestry’s Tom Smith. The Clubman class saw Shrewsbury’s Tom Hanks edge out Nene Valley’s Ryan Ewers by a single mark, ahead of Ipswich’s Andrew Barrell.
Youth competitions were equally competitive. Berkhamsted’s Max Golla won the Youth Expert class, with Llangollen riders Zain Pughe-Hutchinson and George Jones following. In the Youth Intermediate class, Edwyn James of the Wye Valley claimed victory on a tiebreaker, narrowly beating Yorkshire’s Harrison Lightfoot. Tomos Reese of Llangollen topped the Youth Clubman category.
Sportsman classes were also hotly contested. Neath’s Michael Bevan secured the Masters title ahead of Dulais Valley’s Darren Morgan, while on the Easy route, Vale of Towy’s Christopher Singleton narrowly defeated Wycombe’s Simon Dowling by a single mark.
The Bracken Trust charity provides support, advice and counselling to families affected by cancer in Wales. Located in a beautiful, secluded premises in Llandrindod Wells, the charity offers help by providing information, advice, support, counselling and complementary therapies to anyone affected by cancer.
