BUILTH Firsts recorded their third win on the trot on Saturday with a resounding victory over Nantymoel.

The first half was a game of penalties. Builth conceded eight in total and had Nantymoel had an accurate kicker the game would have been all over by half time.

Just before the end of the first half some great interlinking play resulting in a try for Bulls’ Aiden Luton which was converted by Harry Jenkinson.

After half time, and some strong words from coach Ben Duggern, the Bulls started to play a more structured game with Gav Jones at outside half and captain Rhys Davies scrum half, controlling every aspect of game and kicking successfully into the opposition corners. It was one of those kicks that led to Luton scoring his second try. The Builth forwards were now in total control with Ben Pugh making charging runs at every opportunity, ably supported by Nathon Jones who for the third match is a row was simply outstanding.

This aggressive period of power play from the Builth no8 led to Tom Sam scoring the Bulls’ third try. With the oposition starting to tire, the Builth backs started to show their class. Mike Powell made a clean break, linking with supporting players. Just 10 metres from opposition try line, some very sloppy defending and a late, obstructive tackle led to a penalty try for Builth.

Mike Powell had the final say, scoring from a well worked team try. This was converted by Harry Jenkinson.

Meanwhile Builth Youth also had a successful afternoon with an 8-0 win over Dowails Youth.

Builth 2nds were due to play against Llandrindod 1sts on Wednesday, November 15, kick-off at 7.30pm.
