ALL thirteen Powys High School, as well as Christ College Brecon and Neath Port Talbot College, competed at the Powys schools track and field championships on Thursday May 26 at Brecon Athletics Track.
The day started off with a parade of all schools with banners and mascots to celebrate the forthcoming Olympics. Pupils from Years seven to 13 represented their schools in a range of events from the 1k walk, sprints, middle distance running, jumping, throwing and the day was concluded with the highly competitive relays.
The best athletes have now been selected to represent Powys at the Welsh Schools Athletics Champions in Cardiff on July 2. Welshpool High School were the overall points winners on the day and secured the Gareth Oldham Cup, which is presented to the school who has achieved the most points in the cross country, indoor and outdoor athletics championships throughout this academic year.
