LLANDRINDOD Wells will be playing second tier Welsh football next season after winning the Spar Mid Wales League for the first time in nearly 50 years.
The Spamen's title triumph, following a last day 3-1 home victory over Montgomery Town, has been described as the 'most important piece of silverware' for the club in last half a century - since the Broadway boys last won the Mid Wales League in 1967.
Prior to the end of the season, the club met the ground criteria for the Cymru Alliance and they will now go up to join Radnorshire neighbours Rhayader Town and fellow local rivals Llanidloes Town in Welsh football's second tier.
Player Manager Gareth Jones hailed his young side's character over the course of the season, with Llandrindod showing resilience to come through a difficult second half of the season and clinch the title by a point from rivals Llanfair United with their last day win over Monty.
2014 has been in stark contrast to the first half of the season, in which 'Dod had stormed to the top of the table by going 17 games unbeaten, including an amazing 16 straight wins.
Llandrindod never looked like displaying the nerves of recent weeks on Saturday though, taking a 2-0 half time lead through lethal strike partnership Richie Powell and former Knighton frontman Connor Bird.
Both Powell and Bird have been flying all season and the former Robin's goal was the Spamen's 100th of the season.
Powell netted from long range after the break as the title celebrations started and even though Montgomery pulled one back, the hosts were champions.
