Brecon is set to host its first-ever Pride event on Saturday, September 2, bringing together the community in a celebration of inclusivity and equality and to support the LGBTQIA+ community.

The event will start at 11.30 with a colourful parade through town, the route culminating at the King George Playing Fields, by Theatr Brycheiniog.

The town council are hoping to see people line the streets and raise the rainbow flag to show support for love and acceptance.

The playing fields will then come alive with entertainment, stalls and activities from 12.30 pm until 7.30pm.

Acts on the playing fields include Two Odd Wolves, Rightkeysonly, Donna Marie as Lady Gaga and local legends Norther Ruins all hosted by the fabulous Emma Rhoid.

Keep an eye out for Enfys the Rainbow Dragon who will be out and about meeting people and explore various stalls offering a wide range of merchandise, food and information from LGBTQIA+ organisations and local businesses.

"We are so looking forward to our first Pride event," said Councillor Michaela Davies, Town Mayor, "We aim to create a safe and inclusive space where individuals from all backgrounds can come together to celebrate love, acceptance and the right to be oneself without fear of discrimination."

Brecon Pride has been organised by Brecon Town Council with sponsorship from Calibre Connections, Specsavers and Llanfaes Dairy. For further information please visit the Council website athttps://brecontowncouncil.org.uk/
