Even the miserable weather couldn’t dampen spirits at the annual Senior Citizens Christmas Party in Builth Wells.
Hosted by the Builth Wells Rotary Club, the event brought together pensioners from the town and surrounding villages for a long-standing celebration that has been running for more than fifty years.

The belated Christmas party, held at Ysgol Calon Cymru, offered a chance for attendees to shake off the post-Christmas blues with good company, music, food, and laughter. Donations from Castell Howell and Tesco provided the majority of the festive fare, while the Greyhound Hotel cooked the turkeys to perfection.
85 guests enjoyed a welcome glass of sherry before tucking into a hearty turkey dinner, followed by dessert, cheese and biscuits, mince pies, and a warm beverage, all served by the club’s smartly dressed Rotarians.
Entertainment was provided by local folk group ‘O’r Galon’, who got the party mood going, and the afternoon continued with lively rounds of bingo. The celebrations wrapped up with a grand raffle draw, and everyone left with a gift to take home.
Rotary volunteers, particularly the ladies of the club, were praised for their hard work in making the day a success. Head cook Nick, assisted by Sarah, oversaw the food preparations, ensuring everything ran smoothly.

The Builth Wells Rotary Club remains active throughout the year, supporting charity events and encouraging local groups with specific needs. The club meets on Thursday evenings at the Greyhound Hotel. Rotary is part of a global network of more than 1.2 million people committed to bringing positive change to communities at home and abroad.
Beyond their local work, the Rotarians are also part a global movement. With more than 45,000 clubs worldwide, they aim to tackle some of the world’s toughest challenges – from promoting peace and fighting disease to improving access to clean water.
