This year, the Crickhowell Resource & Information Centre (CRiC) is celebrating 20 years of serving the town and the wider community.
Since opening in 2006, the centre has become a hub for local residents, visitors, small businesses, and community groups, combining practical services with a commitment to culture, tourism, and rural regeneration.
Located in the heart of Crickhowell, CRiC is a registered charity offering visitor information, meeting spaces, a coffee bar, office services, and a shop featuring Welsh products. Its first-floor Oriel CRiC Gallery hosts six exhibitions a year.
The Crickhowell Archive Centre, based at CRiC since the beginning, houses historic documents, photographs and records, while volunteers offer extensive local knowledge. The centre also supports the Dial-a-Ride service.
Over the past two decades, volunteers have formed the backbone of CRiC. During 2026, CRiC will mark its milestone with a series of events. Details of these events will be shared via CRiC’s social media accounts, @visitcrickhowell and @orielcric, as well as on the visitcrickhowell.wales website.
CRiC’s Chair James Suter said: “Reaching this 20-year milestone is a testament to the hard work and resilience of our small staff team and dedicated volunteers. We have come a long way since 2006 adapting to challenges along the way but always staying true to our core values and charitable objectives. We are excited to look ahead to many more years of supporting the community and promoting tourism.”
Throughout 2026, CRiC will raise funds for Velindre in memory of volunteers, their families, and supporters who have benefited from the centre’s cancer care.
Some upcoming events include the Crickhowell Walking Festival (March 7-15), Crickhowell Open Studios (May 23-25), and the Crickhowell Open Art Exhibition (May 23-July 11).
