Black Mountain Adventure has picked up another award to add to their growing collection of accolades.
The business, which is based on the edge of Three Cocks village, received the Family Business of the Year Award 2025 at the South Wales Business Awards on Friday, September 26.

Black Mountain offer a wide range of outdoor activities in South Wales seven days a week and all year round - including gorge walking, caving, archery, clay pigeon shooting, high level ropes, climbing, kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding, white water rafting and more.
The multi-award-winning company recently celebrated 30 years of the business’ success and founders Carl and Ann Durham couldn’t be more pleased. Their daughter Hayley Lagerweij is also part of the Black Mountain team, along with their talented and enthusiastic activity instructors.

Speaking on the team’s most recent award win, Carl said: “As well as being a family business, we also consider the whole activity team here at Black Mountain Adventure to be our own big family! To win the Family Business of the Year Award at this year’s South Wales Business Awards 2025 event is brilliant for us and an absolute team effort!”
Ann and Carl were in attendance to accept their award on behalf of all the team at the ceremony at the Hilton Hotel in Cardiff, which was hosted by Welsh television and radio royalty, Sara Edwards.
Earlier this year, Black Mountain Adventure picked up two titles at the Business Growth Wales Awards – for Family Friendliness and Customer Service Excellence – and was also ranked among the top 10 per cent of attractions worldwide by leading travel website Tripadvisor.
