The silver jubilee running of the Llanddewi Tractor Run has raised funds for two local charities, Blood Bikes Wales and the Llandrindod Leg Club.
On Wednesday, September 17, organisers presented the proceeds from this year’s event. Barry Bevan handed over a cheque for £200 to Steve Bufton of Blood Bikes Wales, while Dot Bevan presented £170 to Dennis Davies on behalf of the Llandrindod Leg Club. The presentation was witnessed by Jane Bevan and Joan Davies.
This year’s Llanddewi Tractor Run took place on Sunday, August 17, setting off from the village hall and proved a big success - attracting a record number of tractors and 4x4s. To mark the 25th run, the organisers displayed photos and newspaper cuttings documenting the long history of the event. Special thanks were given to the Pugh Family for allowing the early runs to start from their farmyard, to Joan Davies and Dot Bevan for providing refreshments, and to Anne Bates for promoting the run and taking photographs. The participants over the last 25 years were also thanked, who collectively have helped raise more than £5,000 for local good causes.
The route of the run, which was carefully plotted by Stuart Ross and Barry Bevan, took participants through the communities of Heartease, Rock Pitch, and Fron before heading to Abbey Cwm-Hir. The convoy then climbed the Clwyedog Valley, stopped for lunch on Cwmfaerdy Hill, and continued via Giants Grave and Camdwr Hill before returning to Heartease and retracing the route to Llanddewi.
Organisers said all of the participants on the day arrived back safely by 4pm and enjoyed a day free from breakdowns - which was welcome news. The silver jubilee run was celebrated as a successful and fun-filled community event, combining a love of tractors with fundraising for local causes.
