Welsh singer and spiritual entrepreneur Charlotte Church has been confirmed as a contestant on the first celebrity series of The Traitors.

Known for a successful singing career and for owning The Dreaming, a wellness retreat in Rhayader, Charlotte Church will be bringing her sound baths to the Scottish Traitor’s castle, but will she be a faithful or a traitor?

Speaking about the line-up, host Claudia Winkleman said: “We’re incredibly lucky these brilliant people have said yes. I’d love to say we’ll take it easy on them and they’ll just wander round the castle and eat toast for a couple of weeks, but that would be a lie.”

Charlotte joins a whole host of stars, in what’s being called the best celebrity line-up for a TV series in years. Other famous faces include Alan Carr, singer-songwriter Cat Burns, Bridget Jones actress Celia Imrie, broadcaster Clare Balding, historian David Olusoga, England rugby player Joe Marler, comedian Joe Wilkinson, presenter Jonathan Ross, broadcaster Kate Garraway, comedian Lucy Beaumont, actor Mark Bonnar, actor Nick Mohammed, content creator Niko Omilana, singer Paloma Faith, actor Ruth Codd, actor Stephen Fry, Eastender’s actress Tameka Empson, and Olympian Tom Daley.

Rumours started circulating of the line-up a few weeks ago, but Charlotte and the BBC confirmed the line-up online.

Contestants will be competing for a cash prize of up to £100,000 for a charity of their choice.

The series will air on the BBC in the autumn.
