Community groups across Powys are being invited to apply for a share of £10,000 as the Green Man Trust opens applications for its 2026 Community Grants.

The Trust - the independent charitable arm of the Green Man Festival - is offering funding for projects that promote inclusiveness and wellbeing, tackle social inequalities and help build resilient communities.

Since launching the grants three years ago, the charity says it has distributed almost £90,000 to local causes.

In 2025 alone, 17 projects received funding, supporting initiatives in Crickhowell, Glangrwyney, Talgarth, Llangorse and Llangattock, as well as a Powys-wide theatre group and workshops for students at the Little Brecon Theatre.

Successful schemes have included the launch of a community kitchen, a touring theatre outreach project and residential respite breaks for young carers.

Among the initiatives backed is the Brecon Community Swap Shop, based at Priory Church in Wales School. The refurbished shipping container was designed and fitted out with recycled furniture by the Green Man team. It provides free school uniforms, sports kits and essential items, alongside a meeting space where support services can meet families seeking advice.

Claire Pugh, Headteacher of Priory Church in Wales School, said: “We are so grateful to the Green Man Trust for the support they are giving our community in such tangible ways. It would have taken us years to raise the funds to afford projects like these that have a true impact and lasting legacy on our children and their families.”

Now in its 13th year, the Trust says it has supported more than 13,000 people and raised over £2.4 million. Schools, youth groups, sports clubs and community organisations across Powys are eligible to apply.
