Llanwrtyd Wells awaits Britain in Bloom result after judges' visit

Llanwrtyd Wells has welcomed Britain in Bloom judges as the town waits to discover whether months of hard work by volunteers will be recognised on the national stage.

The RHS judges visited on July 30 to see the town’s entry for the 2026 competition, after the Llanwrtyd Wells Bloom group spent the past six months preparing displays and projects across the community.

Llanwrtyd Wells is the only Welsh entrant in this year’s Britain in Bloom finals and is one of only a handful of finalists in its category from across the UK.

The judges were shown some of the highlights of the town’s work, including floral and heritage-themed displays, the revamped Llanwrtyd Station, and projects at Dolwen Field.

The field includes the Grow and Share garden, a wildlife meadow and pond, sensory garden and other community-led improvements.

The entry aims to showcase not only the town’s green spaces, but also its history and the enthusiasm of the people who have helped bring the project together.

The group reached the national competition after securing a gold award in the RHS Wales in Bloom competition in 2025.

Britain in Bloom is a nationwide competition which encourages communities to improve their local environment.

The RHS website states: “The groups will be judged against criteria with the environment, community engagement and horticulture at their core.

“Finalists will receive an RHS Gold, Silver Gilt, Silver or Bronze award at a ceremony in the autumn. The winners of each of the eight categories will also be announced and one of the category winners will go on to be named the Britain in Bloom Overall Winner for 2026.”
